We have extended the deadline for applications to host the Gala this year to December 15, 2017! 
The host school benefits tremendously in preparation for the event as we strive to have the children involved in all aspects of the Gala ceremony. They are hosts, Masters of Ceremonies, entertainers, ushers, creators of decorations and prize presenters. SYRCA arranges readings by the winning authors prior to the ceremony. It’s an exciting opportunity for children to meet and interact with these writers and illustrators. It is during the ceremony that the winning books and authors are announced in a similar way to entertainment awards. In recent years, we have been able to live-stream the ceremony throughout the province to allow more children to feel a part of this special event.
Although it is a commitment in an already busy schedule, we do have people and resources that can help. The improved literacy skills and positive attitudes towards reading that we are documenting are benefits which can last a lifetime. Please consider making an application today!
