Celebrating the 2020 Willow Award winners was an exciting time for the students and staff of Wilfred Hunt School in Regina. Due to COVID measures still in place in May, our usual gala format ,which would normally be live-streamed throughout the province, was not possible. Author sessions and interviews were conducted virtually with Shining Willow Award winner, Mireille Messier, author of Sergeant Billy: The True Story of the Goat Who Went to War; Diamond Willow Award winner , Colleen Nelson, author of Harvey Comes Home; and Snow Willow Award winner, Marsha Forchuk Skrypuch, author of Don’t Tell the Nazis. You can view highlights from the author interviews and a presentation made on behalf of SaskEnergy, our long-time sponsor of the gala, in this video created by teacher-librarian Elann McChesney and students at Wilfred Hunt School. Thank you to the authors, staff and students who made it a memorable day for all!
